VinFast VF7

The VinFast VF7 is the carmaker’s flagship all-electric model for India, at least for the initial period. We first got to see the premium mid-size electric SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It is now launched and is being locally assembled alongside the VF6 SUV at VinFast’s plant in Tamil Nadu.

It has a sporty appearance that is highlighted by its aggressive and futuristic design, while also featuring sharp creases and a wide stance. Up front, it has a blanked-out grille in typical EV fashion, V-shaped LED DRLs that connect to the ‘VinFast’ logo, and all-LED projector headlights. Lower down, you can notice a mesh-like pattern for the air intake and the radar for the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Although it has a familiar design as other VinFast products, it is still distinctive and is bound to attract a lot of attention on our roads. The VF7’s side profile sports flush door handles, strong shoulder lines, and aerodynamically designed 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The charging port is located on the left front fender of the electric SUV. It also gets ORVM-mounted turn indicators.

The rear profile of the SUV comes with connected LED taillights that mimic the design of the LED DRLs at the front, and a sculpted bumper with contrasting inserts. Other exterior elements include a shark fin antenna and the ‘VF7’ badge on the tailgate.

VinFast has provided the VF7 with a minimalistic-looking cabin, which comes with premium vegan leather upholstery and soft-touch materials all around to give it a richer feel. The VF7 comes with a choice of two interior options – all-black and Mocha brown with black – but the cabin theme varies depending on the variant chosen.

The electric SUV has the same 3-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls, button-operated gear selector, and the large 12.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment display as seen on the VF6 SUV. There’s no traditional instrument cluster, and so the data is relayed via the central screen as well as a heads-up display (HUD).

Being an EV, the VF7 has a flat floor in the second row that offers improved rear seat comfort along with the reclinable functionality, thereby making it a good 5-seater SUV. The panoramic glass roof makes the cabin feel more airy, although it is likely to be reserved for the higher-end variants.

Features

The VF7 is equipped with dual-zone climate control, all four 1-touch up/down windows with anti-pinch, an auto-dimming inside rear view mirror (IRVM), an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, keyless entry, and ventilated front seats.

Its central infotainment unit also comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which supports Google Voice Assistant, OTA (Over-the-Air) updates and has connected car features via C-App.

In terms of safety tech, VinFast has loaded it with a high-resolution 360-degree camera, rain-sensing wipers, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold. The VF7 also features seven airbags and multiple ADAS functions. Its Level-2 ADAS suite comprises Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Centring, Lane Change Assist and more.

And there's more good news in this department. The VinFast VF7 has been crash tested by Bharat NCAP and has passed it in flying colours with a 5-star safety rating for both Adult and Child Occupant Protection. 

The VinFast VF7 has 537 litres of boot space on offer with all seats in use, and the capacity can be expanded when the rear seats are folded down flat.

The flat loading floor and wide opening of the boot make it suitable for everyday usability and aid in the stacking and unstacking of your luggage.

VinFast is offering the India-spec VF7 in five broad variant lines, but only one battery pack option. That said, it comes with a choice of both front wheel and all-wheel drive options, based on the variant. Here’s a look at its technical specifications:

The higher-spec AWD version can do a 0-100 kmph run in just 5.8 seconds. Also VinFast is offering a battery warranty of 10 years or 2 lakh kms (whichever comes first) in India alongside free charging up to 2028.

The India-spec VinFast VF7 is available in five broad trim levels: Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky and Sky Infinity. Prices of the VF7 start from Rs 20.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
