Chevrolet offers discounts to improve Aveo and U-VA sales

Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet U-Va, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Cruze - customers going to buy these cars will all celebrate Diwali in rejoice as Chevrolet India shells out huge discounts ranging between Rs. 55,000 on Chevrolet Aveo U-Va LT and Rs. 20,000 on Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Beat and a whole lot of freebies. Chevrolet has followed Hyundai and Maruti India’s footsteps in offering discounts mostly on petrol variants.

It looks like a difficult choice between a 32-inch Panasonic LCD TV and Rs. 20,000 cash discount offered on the entry level Chevrolet Spark 1.0 E. That brings down the effective price of base Spark E 1.0 from Rs. 3.05 lakh to Rs. 2.85 lakh (all prices being ex-showroom Delhi) making it Rs. 19,000 cheaper than base variant of Maruti Alto K10 LXI. The next model is the Spark 1.0 at Rs. 3.23 lakh which can be had for Rs. 3.03 lakh making it Rs. 14,000 cheaper than Maruti Alto K10 VXI. However, the latter has two power windows which Chevrolet Spark is devoid of. But the 3-year free service offer from Chevrolet India makes Spark any day better. While there are discounts on higher-end models also but since Maruti WagorR is starting at festive price of Rs. 3.21 lakh, the high priced Chevrolet Spark models don’t make that much sense.

Chevrolet Beat too gets the same discount of Rs. 20,000 but lacks the three-year free service by General Motors. The base version Chevrolet Beat PS can now be had for Rs 3.39 lakh as opposed to its original price of Rs. 3.59 lakh. That seems to be a good deal because similarly priced model of Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai i10 are less powerful delivering about 70-BHP on tap unlike Beat churning out a power of 80 BHP. They also offer fewer features making the base Chevrolet Beat version a pretty attractive buy. However, the higher-end versions of Chevrolet Beat are a tad costly and therefore, the discount, at best brings them on par with some of the Hyundai i10 models.

The base version of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA gets a hefty discount of Rs. 40,000 bringing down its effective price from Rs. 4.13 lakh to Rs. 3.73 lakh. The higher-end Chevrolet Aveo U-Va LT Option Pack variant, which also has an airbag and four power windows, gets a heftier discount of Rs. 55,000 reducing its effective price from Rs. 4.89 lakh to Rs. 4.34 lakh. On the other hand, Chevrolet Aveo gets Rs. 50,000 off on all models and Chevrolet Cruze, which is doing well with sales gets a cash discount of Rs. 15,000—not much considering its Rs. 12 lakh-plus price tag.
