The General Motors line-up was surely one of the most talked about things post the Auto Expo 2012. The company went through with the launch of the common-rail diesel variant of the Tavera SUV on a low note and now it seems like the company was saving the spur for the launch of its much awaited Chevrolet Sail hatchback. This ‘sure to grab a lot of attention’ launch will be followed by the launch of the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV and Chevrolet Sail sedan. On Indian shores, the Chevrolet Sail hatchback will replace the Aveo U-VA and the Sail sedan will replace the Chevrolet Aveo sedan. The anticipated launch time of Sail hatchback is somewhere in the mid of 2012 like June-July whereas the anticipated launch date of Chevrolet Sail sedan is said to fall somewhere in the last quarter of the current year.

The Sail sedan will be driving power from the 1.4-liter petrol engine and also from the 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel engine. The 1.4 liter petrol engine might also be used to power the Enjoy MPV and the MultiJet diesel engine is already being used in various from the auto majors like Tata Motors, Fiat India and Maruti Suzuki India. this 1.3-liter MultiJet engine was developed in the last decade together by Fiat and General Motors. The Chevrolet Sail hatchback is said to be housed with the MultiJet diesel engine and also with a 80 BHP, 1.2-liter petrol engine. The engines will be assembled at the General Motors’ powertrain facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra. The pricing of these cars is very important from the success point of view as these cars sit on the platform of Aveo sisters which unfortunately couldn’t draw in sales in good volume.
