Chevrolet Sail U-VA Hatchback Launched at Rs 4.44 lakh

Proving CarDekho's claims absolutely right, General Motors India has finally launched the much awaited Chevrolet Sail U-VA, a car that is 'made in India, by India and for India' today in Mumbai. The company has brought the all new Sail U-VA in a total 7 variants, out of which four are petrol (Base, LS, LS ABS and LT ABS) and three are diesel (LS, LS ABS, LT ABS). Where the petrol variants cost between Rs 4.44 lakh and Rs 5.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) diesel variants are priced between Rs 5.87 lakh and Rs 6.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
GM India that released the teaser images of all new Sail U-VA some days back had started taking pre-orders even before its launch. And like the company has already said, the all new Chevrolet Sail U-VA will be replacing the Aveo U-VA hatchback, which is in fact not doing as good for the company as it expected.
Chevrolet Sail U-VA petrol version derives its power from the 1.2-litre MPFI petrol engine (85bhp and 113Nm Torque), the diesel version will house the similar 1.3-litre multi-jet turbocharged engine (77bhp and 205Nm Torque), which currently does it duty to most its competitors including the Swift, Fiat Punto and some others.
Looks however are not very much impressive, so what is it that might help Chevrolet to bring in the sales numbers, we believe the competitive pricing, spaciousness and above all the fuel economy. The all new Sail U-VA has been positioned right above the company's flagship hatchback, the Beat, so the direct competitors of the vehicle will be Swift, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo and some others, and like GM has kept the pricing very competitive, it automatically gains the advantage over many.
In terms of fuel economy, it impresses everyone, While Chevrolet Sail U-VA petrol returns an impressive 18.2kmpl of mileage, the Sail U-VA diesel on the other hand returns the mileage of 22.10kmpl proving it to be equally frugal and powerful as its competitors.
