The Mahindra Vision X prototype was unveiled recently at the Freedom NU event on August 15, 2025. This sub-4m SUV concept, underpinned by Mahindra’s new Nu IQ platform, could serve as the design inspiration for the next-generation Mahindra XUV 3XO. Here, we compare the exterior and interior of the Vision X concept with those of the XUV 3XO in images.

Overall, the Mahindra Vision X concept sports a sleeker design compared to the Mahindra XUV 3XO. It gets muscular hood contours, slim horizontal DRLs, and a large air dam with an X-shaped pattern. The XUV 3XO, on the other hand, has a chunkier appearance with flange-shaped LED DRLs and a projector headlight setup. While the Vision X’s grille looks more refined, it retains the same six-slat design as the XUV 3XO, along with the signature ‘Twin Peaks’ logo at the centre, on both SUVs.

In profile, the Vision X concept has smoother curves compared to the XUV 3XO. Both SUVs get a thick side cladding and roof rails, but the Vision X looks more premium with silver-finished side skirts, and flush-type door handles.

While the Vision X concept sits on 19-inch aero-styled dual-tone alloy wheels, the XUV 3XO has smaller 17-inch diamond cut dual-tone alloys.

Both Vision X concept and XUV 3XO sports connected LED tail lights, along with a blacked-out bumper. The Vision X however stands out with its chunkier bumper, a prominent silver skid plate, and modern dual fin-type high-mounted stop lamps neatly integrated into the roof spoiler. In contrast, the XUV 3XO sticks to a more conventional look with a horizontal high-mounted stop lamp.

Inside, the Vision X boasts a more modern dashboard layout compared to that of the XUV 3XO. It has a 2-spoke steering wheel and an integrated curved display setup (one for the infotainment and the other for the driver’s display). The AC vents have been neatly integrated into the side vents, below which you got climate control display two trapezoidal sections.

The XUV 3XO on the other hand gets a dual-tone white and black interior theme and has a more upright dashboard layout compared to that of the Vision X. It gets a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and a 4-spoke steering wheel. The AC vents have a more traditional design and are surrounded in chrome.

Other features on board the XUV 3XO includes dual-zone AC, wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, and a 7-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Safety is taken care of by 6 airbags (as standard), a 360-degree camera, and level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

    Powertrain

Since the Mahindra Vision X concept is based on Mahindra’s new Nu IQ platform, which supports the accommodation of different powertrains, it is expected to be offered in both ICE (internal combustion engine) and EV versions.

The XUV 3XO on the other hand comes with three engine options:
