    • Pre-bookings expected to begin after the unveil.

    • Prices expected to range between Rs 5.5 lakh and 8.5 lakh.

Tata Motors has flagged off the first series production unit of its upcoming premium hatchback, the Altroz. The Tata Altroz will be unveiled in the first week of December with pre-launch bookings expected to open soon after.

The production model looks identical to the Altroz we saw at this year's Geneva International Motor Show. This particular unit is finished in a golden shade and is expected to get features like a floating 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting and cruise control.

Powering the upcoming Tata Altroz will be a choice of 3 BS6-compliant engine options comprising of two petrol and a diesel unit. So you’ll get a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel from the Nexon along with a soberer 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit from the Tiago. Expect an AMT option along with the 5- and 6-speed manual transmission options. It remains to be seen whether both the petrol and diesel get automatic convenience at the time of launch.

The Tata Altroz is likely to get a price tag of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh. When launched, it will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
