TRUE COMEPITITOR of M800 IN INDIA SOON

Today,General Motor India announced that it would launch two new models in  next year.Karl Slym,GM India president and managing director, told reporters that one of new models would be a small car 'Chevrolet Spark 800'and a sedan 'Chevrolet Cruze'.Spark 800 would be the true comptitor for Maruti’s Alto and M800 in terms of price tag and compactness.The other model would be a sedan which will bw in compitition with Honda civic segment,Toyota Corolla altis and Volkswagen Jetta.

spark 800 will be poered by an 800cc petrol engine.This is the same engine which powered the Daewoo Matiz. The 795cc, 6valve unit pumps out 38KW and torque of 68.6 Nm@4600 rpm.The new spark is priced around Rs2,50,000.The Cruze will be powered by GM’s new family of direct-injection, turbocharged four-cylinder engines, likely ranging in displacement from 1.4 liters to 2.0.The cruize was showcased at the 2008 Paris auto show.

The company has recently started its production at its second plant in Talegaon in Maharashtra. It further plans to invest $210 million for its plant that will manufacture engines, gearboxes and transmission.The company will roll out its compact from its Talegaon unit.
