Volkswagen Polo by the year end
Volkswagen is ready to launch Volkswagen Polo by end of this year. The car will be manufacutured specially for Indian customers. The car will competee with Maruti's Swift, Hyundai Getz and Tata Indica. The car is expected to be priced around Rs. 4 lakh and above. Volkswagen will also roll out its Passat model , which will don a price tag of Rs 30 lakh which will be rolled out from Skoda Auto manufacturing utility.

Volkswagen will use group company Skoda Auto’s Shendra plant, near Aurangabad, to assemble the Audi A4 and A6 and VW’s Passat and Jetta. VW unveiled its new manufacturing unit in Chakan near Pune in March 2009. Post-pact with the Maharashtra government, the auto major would acquire 230 hectares of land in Chakan at Pune. The new plant would boast of an initial capacity of 110,000 units by 2009. The company is expected to invest around Rs 2,450 crore for the plant.
