"Deliveries by the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand developed satisfactorily in the period to October – even though conditions in some regions were at times uncertain", Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, said in Wolfsburg on Tuesday. "Developments in Western Europe, where the new Passat will go on sale in the coming weeks, remained positive. As a result, we are on track to deliver more than six million vehicles for the first time", Klingler continued.

In European market, the company handed over 1.40 million vehicles from January to October, as compared to 1.37 million units, up by 2.7 percent. In Western Europe (excluding Germany) VW sales figure stood at 7,19,500 units, 5 percent more than last year's 6,82,200 units. There was also a rise in deliveries in the home market Germany, where customers took possession of 4.2 percent more cars at 4,83,500 units, against 4,64,100 cars in the last year's period to October. While in Central and Eastern Europe, the company witnessed a decline, with 2,00,500 units were handed over to customers there at a rate of 9 percent fall.

Unlike most of the Europe, VW saw a decline of 6.8 percent in North America with 4,82,300 deliveries, as against 5,17,600 vehicles in the period to October. In totality again, US sales figures remained on the lower side with 3,01,200 sold units at 12.2 percent loss. While in the South America region fell by 18.5 percent to 5,47,700, in comparison to 6,72,400 units of last year.

The brand reported a 12.4 percent increase in the Asia-Pacific region from January to October, handing over 2.47 million vehicles to customers there, of which 2.30 million units were delivered in China, the region's largest single market, with a good 13.8 percent growth.
