Tata Motors is an Indian auto maker that made its entry in the passenger vehicle segment in the year 1991. It entered the Indian market with its MUV named Tata Sierra. In the year 1992, the company launched its second model - a station wagon named Tata Estate. Tata Motors also gets the credit for its Tata Safari, which was the first SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) in the Indian market. In the same year as Safari, Tata Motors also launched its first hatchback named Tata Indica. This hatchback became the backbone of the company at that time. Soon after the launch, it became the leader in its segment and even sooner after that, it became the second largest selling model among the hatchbacks. After the huge success of the older Tata Indica model, Tata Motors launched the all new Tata Vista model to target a larger market share in the hatchback segment. Tata Vista was not just a face-lift of the older Tata Indica model, in fact, it hardly shared anything substantial with the preceding version and was built on a completely new platform. Presently, it is available in the market in 12 different variants out of which 6 are powered by diesel engines while the remaining 6 are powered by petrol mills. Tata Vista Safire GVX is one of the base petrol variants in the fleet. It is powered by a 1.2-litre MPFI petrol engine, which produces 64.1bhp at a rate of 5500rpm and a torque of 96Nm at a rate of 3000rpm. The mileage delivered by this car is quite decent and falls around 15kmpl. Besides the superb engine, the hatchback has stunning looks and various new features with segment leading interior space also.The appearance of this car is aggressive and dynamic, for which the credit goes to the front headlamps. To make this car look sportier, Tata has incorporated it with body coloured front and rear bumpers, ORVMs and door handles. The sporty look is enhanced by the use of 4-spoke alloy wheels. There is also a mirror polish garnishing below the rear wind-shield that gives the new Tata Vista a distinct appearance among the hatchbacks.Being one of the base variants, this model does not have all the high end safety and comfort features in it, but still we can find the standard ones together with some of the advanced features.

Exteriors

Exterior looks of the car are very dynamic, mainly due to the design of the headlamps. It has stylish four barrel headlamps that enclose between them the chrome grille with the Tata logo placed on it. The lower grille of the car is integrated with clear lens fog lamps. The side profile of the car has been given a very elegant and subtle design and there is nothing much, except for the curve line, which flows across the door handles from the front to the rear, that stands out exceptionally apart. At the rear end, we have vertically placed tail lights with the turn indicators below them, while the brake lights are placed just above the tail lamps. Tata Motors allows you to choose from 8 amazing colours for your new Vista. These are Mint White, Arctic Silver, Cavern Grey, Gala Red, Infinity Black, Porcelain White, Marine Silver and Solar Orange.Tata Vista is a five seater premium hatchback model with a suitably spacious passenger zone. In terms of exterior dimensions, Tata Vista is 3,795mm in length, 1,695mm in width, 1,550mm in height and 2,470mm in wheelbase, with the ground clearance being 165mm and the minimum turning radius being 5.0 meters.

Interiors

New Tata Vista is adorned with a very attractive dual-toned interiors sporting Ebony Black and Sahara Beige colours and incorporates a twin-toned beige dash board that comes equipped with an advanced instrument cluster. Other stylish features that add more style in Tata Vista interiors include fully fabricated seats, a stylish gear shift knob, central console finish and more. Tata Vista is an ultra spacious premium hatchback model holding the seating capacity of five passengers. It offers a generous headroom of 960mm (Front) and 915mm (Rear) with the front legroom of 1180mm (at the maximum) and 1015mm (at the minimum) and the rear knee-room of 910mm (at the maximum) and 705mm (at the minimum) besides offering a shoulder room of 1340mm. These offered dimensions are enough even for a six feet tall person. The boot capacity of this SUV is 232 litres.

Comfort Features

In the comfort zone, we have the power steering wheel that allows easy driving on every kind of terrain and provides a minimal turning radius. Besides, the front and rear power windows can be opened or closed with a single touch of a button and the highly effective air conditioner with automatic climate control, air quality control and rear AC vents makes your ride comfortable and relaxing . With the seat lumbar support option, you can increase the pressure at the back of your seat to provide more comfort. It also has features like low fuel warning light, accessory power outlet, vanity mirror, rear seat headrest and multi function steering wheel.

Engine and Performance

To power this car, Tata has incorporated a 1.2-litre MPFI petrol engine , which produces a maximum of 64.1bhp at the rate of 5500rpm and a torque of 96Nm at the rate of 3000rpm. The petrol mill provides this car with enough power to touch thespeed of 100kmph in just 18.36 seconds and attain a top speed of 146kmph . The mileage delivered is around13.3kmpl in the city driving conditions and 16.7kmpl on the highways . The engine is mated with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox and complies with BSIV emission norms instituted by the Government of India to keep a check over the pollution caused by the internal combustion engines.

Braking and Handling

In the brake mechanism, we have disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear . For handling purposes, there is a power steering wheel with tilt adjustable column that provides a turning radius of 5.0 meters.

Safety Features

In the safety features we have ABS associated with the brake mechanism that avoids skidding of the car in case of instant braking, and halogen headlamps, which generate 2-3 times more light with just half the energy consumption. The other standard features in the car are central Locking, child safety locks, day and night rear view mirror, passenger side rear view mirror, rear seat belt, seat belt warning, door ajar warning, side and front impact beams, adjustable seats, key-less entry, engine immobilizer and engine check warning.

Cons: Unsatisfactory standards of acceleration and pick up, and lack of competent comfort features.
