    • The 2025 Tata Tiago EV is the carmaker’s entry-level electric offering and it shares its underpinnings with its ICE model.

    • Recent updates given to the 2025 Tiago EV’s design makes it relevant and pleasing to look at, despite the Tiago being quite an old car. Interesting and bright colour options further make it stand out from the crowd.

    • Inside, the Tata Tiago EV 2025 gets a black and grey dashboard with good plastic quality. The recent MY2025 update has seen the electric hatch get a new 2-spoke steering wheel and a floating infotainment.

    • Highlight features include a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto LED headlights, a 4-speaker sound system and semi-digital driver’s display.

    • The 2025 Tata Tiago EV comes with two battery pack options: a 19.2 kWh (claimed range: 223km) and a 24 kWh (claimed range: 293 km).

Tata Tiago EV 2022-2026 expert overview

One of India’s smallest electric cars, and the smallest car in Tata’s lineup, the Tiago EV has been given a facelift and launched at Rs 6.99 lakh. The first proper update for the little electric hatchback brings fresh cosmetic tweaks that give it a more contemporary look, along with the usual facelift treatment - new features and safety equipment.

    Tata Tiago EV Facelift

That said, the powertrain options are the same as before except for the fact that it has been tweaked to support faster charging speeds.

If you were looking for a small car for your family with punchy performance and low running costs, there aren’t a lot of options to choose from. But with this facelift, you probably won’t need anything else either. Here’s what you should know about it:

The pre-facelift Tata Tiago EV was a simple little hatchback and had started to show its age from some angles. The updates made to the exterior of the facelifted model bring much needed changes and make the design look more fancy than before.

    Tata Tiago EV Facelift

The design seems to be inspired by the new Punch EV with a full body coloured treatment. It might look a bit weird to people, given that they expect the bumper to be finished in a different shade, and you will definitely miss some contrast here. There are vertical openings in the lower part of the face for cooling purposes, along with some closed slats towards the side.

The next big change is to the LED headlights, which have been updated for a sleeker look. The LED DRL’s placement gives it an eyebrow-like effect, and instead of the piano black panel, you now get a body coloured panel between the two headlights.

In profile, changes are simple. To add some contrast, it gets slim gloss black cladding around the wheel arches, C-pillar, ORVMs. The front doors have the new "Tata.ev" logo as well. Apart from that, the 14-inch wheels and silhouette have been carried forward from the older car.

    Tata Tiago EV Facelift

Tata has made big changes to the rear of the 2026 Tiago EV, and this is probably the only place where the outgoing model has started to show its age the most. The design now looks a lot more modern with a connected LED tail light, however, the middle panel isn’t actually illuminated. The tail light itself gets multiple individual LEDs and Tata has also redesigned the boot lid a bit. The ‘Tiago.EV’ wordmark sits right in the middle.

Unlike the front, the bumper is clearly differentiated from the body with a trapezium outline. The reversing lights have been placed in the centre of the bumper, which might not be easy to spot for the driver if the car behind is too close.

The 2026 Tata Tiago EV is available in 6 colour options: Matheran Monsoon, Pure Grey, Pristine White, Dehradun Dew, Sobo Surge, and Pangong Pulse.

If you think Tata has done a lot to the exterior of the 2026 Tiago EV, you’ll be even more surprised to see the changes inside. Gone is the old-school dashboard design, replaced by a sleek and minimalistic layout. It features a dual-tone theme with black and a contrasting blue fabric on the top half of the dashboard and black. Both the digital screens are now floating, and not part of a binnacle, and even the two-spoke steering wheel gets a never-seen-before Tata EV logo with an offset position towards the right.

    2026 Tiago EV Facelift Interior

Even the AC control panel has been redesigned, but thankfully, still gets physical buttons and knobs so functionality hasn’t taken a hit. Small changes like the new power window switches also help the Tiago EV feel more premium.

    Rear Seats

Comfort for the rear occupants has improved with conveniences like rear AC vents, multiple seat back pockets and charging ports. Space is still adequate for two average size adults to cover long journeys, and even taller adults won’t mind short city runabouts. However, given the size of the car, it is not advisable to seat three occupants in the back seat.

The Tata Tiago EV already had a healthy functional feature list with equipment like passive keyless entry, start/stop button, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, automatic climate control, cruise control and auto-folding outside mirrors. It even had a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which has been carried over without any changes.

However, the display for the driver has been given an update with TFT setup with better colours and resolution. You also get a wireless phone charger as well.

Another new addition is the 360-degree camera. As is the case with all Tata surround view cameras, the quality here is good, it offers multiple angles to view from and makes life much easier for new drivers trying to maneuver the car in tight parking spaces or traffic.

The 2026 Tata Tiago EV gets 6 airbags (as standard), electronic stability control, hill hold control, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard. Other safety features include automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

There is no crash test report from Bharat NCAP yet, but the petrol Tiago had scored 4-star rating for adult occupant safety and 3 stars for child occupant safety in crash tests conducted by Global NCAP earlier.

At 240-litres, the boot space of the 2026 Tiago EV facelift has seen no changes. It still remains usable for packing a medium and a small suitcase with other loose items, meaning you won’t have an issue for 2-3 people’s worth of luggage for a weekend holiday.

Tata Motors offers two battery packs with the Tiago EV: 19.2kWh and 24kWh. The smaller battery also comes paired with a less powerful motor.

    Battery 19.2kWh 24kWh
    Output 61 PS / 110 Nm 75 PS / 114 Nm
    Range (MIDC Part 1+2) 223km 293km

I had the long range version on test, which consistently returned 180-200km on a full charge. The smaller battery pack is expected to return around 140-160km of range.

    City Performance

One of the standouts of the Tiago EV’s drive experience is just how easy it is to drive. Not just if it happens to be your first electric vehicle, but even if it’s your first vehicle altogether. The throttle response is calibrated well, making it easy to get used to. Like all electric vehicles, acceleration is practically instant. However, it never feels scary or overwhelming.

    Tata Tiago EV

Driving inside the city is a relaxing affair overall. There’s selectable brake energy regeneration on offer; and I found it best to toggle between L2 and L3 for city drives. That said, toggling between the modes requires you to press switches on the dashboard, which isn’t convenient. Paddle shifters would’ve been a great addition.

    Highway Performance

Having done multiple Mumbai-Pune drives in the Tiago EV, I’m quite confident of the car's highway abilities. While the car is more than capable of holding triple digit speeds with ease, I found it best to stick between 75-80kmph for maximum efficiency. For smooth flowing highways, regenerative braking can be set to L1 or L2.

    Tata Tiago EV

You can step on the accelerator at high speeds and still get instant acceleration, making overtakes effortless. In fact, as per the tested figures, the Tiago EV proves to be faster than these ten cars. While the overall available range might not be confidence inspiring for regular highway driving, it’s good to know that with some planning it is possible to do short intercity trips if needed.

    Note: Tiago EV Charging

The claimed charging time of the Tiago EV is as follows.

    Charging 19.2kWh 24kWh
    10-80% DC charger 58 minutes 58 minutes
    10-100% 7.2kW AC charger 2.6 hours 3.6 hours
    10-100% 7.2kW 15A plug point 6.9 hours 8.7 hours

    Tata Tiago EV charging port

I found it best to charge the Tiago EV overnight, using a 15A plug point. This is also the most economical way to charge the car, bringing running costs down to around Rs 1/km. That said, if you want to know how the Tiago EV fares when charged using a fast charger, we have done a real-word test here

While DC fast charging is possible, the maximum charging speed is capped to 18kW. Tata should consider unlocking 25-30kW DC fast charging support at the least to enable quicker charges on the highway.

    • Tata offers the 2025 Tiago EV in three variants: XE, XT, and XZ+ Tech Lux

    Tiago EV XE

    • Entry-level variants miss out on LEDs and wheel covers. Looks basic.

    • Features dual tone upholstery, but has a basic overall look with no infotainment system.

    • Functional equipment only includes auto AC, and a 4-inch digital driver’s display.

    • Safety kit gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking sensors and puncture repair kit.

    Tiago EV XT

    • Adds wheel covers to the 14-inch wheels.

    • Better basic features like all four power windows, steering mounted controls, electrically adjustable outside mirrors and manual inside mirror.

    • Features a 7-inch infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also gets a 4-speaker sound system.

    • Entry-level variant for the bigger battery pack.

    Tiago EV XZ+ Tech Lux

    • Premium looks with LED DRLs, LED headlights and shark fin antenna.

    • Many functional upgrades like cruise control, auto headlights, 6-way adjustable driver seat, cooled glovebox, push button start/stop, and Type-C charging port.

    • Gets a bigger 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

    • Safety kit gets rear wiper and washer, rain sensing wipes, hill hold control, rear parking sensors and electronic stability program.

    CarDekho Recommends:

    • The base variant of the Tata Tiago EV is too basic with many basic functional misses. We would recommend you to go for the mid-spec XT variant of the Tiago EV if you’re on a budget. It will be a good fit if you want a simple, but no-compromise electric hatchback.

    • The top variant might be a little expensive, but then, you won’t get any other small EV that’s also as feature- and tech-loaded as the Tiago EV.

    • If you want a more in-depth knowledge on which variant to choose, we have detailed that in this piece.

For somebody wanting a small car with nimble performance, low running cost, and enough space and practicality for a family of four, the Tata Tiago EV is now an even better option. Not only does it look more modern, it also feels more premium, and offers better usability with quicker charging speeds.

Yes, it carries a premium over its ICE counterpart, but that extra money is justified in two cases - first is that you just value the refinement and effortless performance that you get with an EV and don’t mind paying a premium for it. And second is if you have a fixed running – be it your daily office commutes, school drops or grocery runs – the Tiago EV will be much cheaper to run. That running cost reduces significantly if you charge it at home, and in case you have a really high running of more than 50+ km a day, then you’ll actually be surprised at how quickly you’ll be able to recover that premium.

At the end of the day, this version of the Tiago EV is the best version of the Tiago that ever existed.

Pros & Cons of Tata Tiago EV 2022-2026

    Things We Like

    • Compact size and instant performance makes it easy to find the small gaps in slow city traffic
    • Wide opening doors and neutral seat height makes for convenient ingress and egress
    • Features like keyless entry with push-button start stop and automatic AC, ORVMs, and rain sensing wipers add to the convenience factor
    View More

    Things We Don't Like

    • Paddle shifters are a miss: Using buttons on the dashboard to change regenerative braking settings requires active focus while driving and isn’t intuitive at all
    • Charging capacity: maximum charging speed of 18kW feels slow for a quick top up on the highway
    • Missing features: Rear AC vents, a bigger digital driver’s display and a better sound system should’ve been offered at the price
