The Indian subsidiary of the American auto giant General Motors is planning to outpour a number of cars in the next few months in an attempt to grab the spot of 5th largest auto-maker of the country. This upcoming fleet of cars would include the face-lifted version of Chevrolet Captiva, the newfangled MPV Chevrolet Enjoy, the Chevrolet Sail hatchback and sedan. Another Chevrolet car is undergoing upgrades which is going to enter the market prior to the aforementioned launches is the revamped version of Cruze. The Chevrolet Cruze has been a high performer of the D-segment from the past few years and the face-lifted version of this car scheduled for launch in June is expected to emerge as a best-seller of its segment.

The exteriors of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze will boast a wider chin, revised air-duct, new alloy wheels, new clear lens in the headlights, newly designed fog lamp cluster and slightly revised clusters of the tail lights. The interiors have also been rendered some major changes such as new audio unit with better and brighter background, new color of the instrument console and some other minor changes. General Motors India has changed the engine specifications to a large extent as a previous 1991cc 148-BHP VM Motori engine will be replaced by a 1998cc motor that is capable of pumping out a power of 161 BHP.

The upgrade in the engine would cause the acceleration times to improve to a great extent; similarly the fuel economy is also expected to go up. Both the six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions are supposed to find their way in, With a slight upgrade in all areas of the car a slight hike in the prices is inevitable and thus the approximations hint an increase of 2.5 to 4 percent in the prices. The base price of new Chevrolet Cruze could therefore rise up to Rs. 13.5 lakh from Rs. 13.15 lakh and the price of top-end automatic variant could go up from current Rs. 15.7 lakh to Rs. 16 lakh.
