Chevrolet Cruze petrol variant might not hit the Indian shores

Few months earlier, Volkswagen India took Indian car market by a surprise by launching its brand new Volkswagen Passat powered with diesel engine. When enquired about the petrol engine model of Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen India chose to be mum on it. And now rumor has it, that General Motors India is not in a mood to launch Chverolet Cruze petrol variant in India at all. The decision of not launching the petrol variant of Chevrolet Cruze might be because the diesel variant of this car is doing pretty well in the country. Also, there is no point of launching the petrol version, as petrol prices are touching the sky.

Another point that should be taken into consideration is that General Motors India could possibly miss the chance to position its Chevrolet Cruze petrol variant at an affordable price, which in turn could surely give a tough fight to cars like Fiat Linea T-Jet and Hyundai Verna. However, if reports are to be believed, General Motors India has no plans to launch the Chevrolet Cruze Petrol variant.

Overseas, Chevrolet Cruze petrol car is offered in two petrol engines, one being 1.6 litre and the other one being 1.4 litre. The 1.4 litre, 140 bhp turbo petrol engine variant of Chevrolet Cruze was also spied in India. But, as the petrol prices rose to such a great height, it might be possible that Chevrolet Cruze won’t ever hit the Indian roads. However, this General Motors India still needs to give an official statement on this.

Nonetheless, if Chevrolet Cruze petrol variant is ever launched in India, it will surely face a hard hitting fight from Honda City, which is sold for Rs. 11 Lakh. However, people won’t mind spending a bit extra, as Chevrolet Cruze is a bigger car than Honda City.
