Chevrolet Sail U-VA Hatchback Launch on 2nd November

After much speculation on the subject, we finally have confirmation that General Motors is set to release the Chevrolet Sail U-VA hatch on the 2nd of November, this year with the Sail sedan to follow later in December. This information has been disclosed to us by trusted sources and GM themselves have confirmed that the Sail twins will replace the existing Aveo U-VA hatch and sedan models. What’s to be seen is if the company can recreate the magic that was displayed by the Sail brand in China.

The Chevrolet Sail U-VA was showcased at the 12th Auto Expo will be positioned right above the Beat which has been a huge success for GM India. This means the Sail hatch is sure to have better features than the Beat. The Chevrolet Sail will come in two engine options; petrol and diesel. The 1.2-litre petrol mill will produce 76.9bhp while the 1.3-litre diesel engine will hand out 84.9bhp. The mileage for the Sail petrol is set at 18.2kmpl while the diesel will give an exciting 22.1kmpl.

The Chevrolet U-VA hatchback will compete with some of the best selling cars in the Indian automotive market including Maruti Suzuki Swift, Toyota Etios, Ford Figo, Hyundai i20 among others. So will the Sail be able to give these big names a run for their money? Well, the Sail is spacious and comes with the proprietary Smartech engine for improved mileage. GM India that rolled out the all new Captiva and upgraded Cruze recently is aiming to offer a completely new range of vehicles to the Indian buyers. Other than the Sail twins, Chevrolet Enjoy MPV is one more vehicle which is on the list for GM in India.
