    Demand for diesel variant of VW Polo, Vento rises

    Volkswagen India is surely having a gala time with such a huge demand for its diesel cars; including Volkswagen Polo hatchback and its sedan, Volkswagen Vento in the Indian car market. Surprisingly, for Volkswagen Polo, there is a waiting period of one to two months and for Volkswagen Vento its two to three months.

    It is a known fact that consumers today are more drifted towards the diesel cars, all thanks to the sky rocketing petrol prices. This shift from petrol to diesel cars has benefited many car makers including Volkswagen India. As per the MOD and director of Volkswagen Passenger Car of Volkswagen India, Mr. Neeraj Garg, the firm is in full swing and is currently working on amplifying the production of diesel cars at their manufacturing facility, which is situated in Pune, Maharashtra.

    Furthermore, Mr. Neeraj Garg added that at the time of the launch of Volkswagen Polo in India, the diesel car sales was about 40% and now with a difference of Rs. 23 in the price of diesel and petrol, the market condition has changed completely. Now around 55 to 60% of the sales come from diesel variant of Volkswagen Polo for Volkswagen India. The manufacturing facility of Volkswagen India located in Pune keeps the capacity to produce about 1.3 Lakh of cars per year.

    As far as Volkswagen Vento is concerned, about 70% or so are the diesel version of Volkswagen Vento that are sold in India presently and the rest 30% are the petrol variants. Volkswagen India launched Volkwagen Vento in December 2010 and just after few months of it launched; Volkwagen Vento which became the 2nd largest selling sedan in the Indian auto market.With the shift from petrol to diesel cars in India, Volkswagen Vento now has a waiting period of about 2 to 3 months. But the company is trying its best to cut down the waiting period.
