Maruti To Launch Ciaz Diesel Hybrid on September 1
Maruti will be launching the hybrid version of Ciaz diesel, named as Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki), on September 1, 2015. The aforementioned technology was showcased by the company in the Indonesian Auto Expo that took place a few days back.

The Ciaz SHVS will be a mild hybrid car that will use an integrated starter generator (ISG) motor to aid the engine at certain places and will also contribute in an automatic start/stop function. This continuous operation will better the mileage of the car and probably push it over 28 kmpl. The current economy of Ciaz is 26.21 kmpl, which is already the best in class. But this new figure will make it the most fuel economic car in country, under a price tag of Rs. 12 lacs.
SHVS Ciaz implies the energy regeneration system that will constantly charge the larger battery incorporated in the car which is responsible for powering the ISG motor.
Other than this, the new upgrade will bring a few more goodies with it, like the standardization of driver side airbag across the lineup and some other minor updates. While, the V (O) and the variants above it will get dual airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) system as standard feature.
Prices are expected to go a bit more than the current one for the diesel engine, but the better fuel economy will compensate that hike. The prices of petrol variants could also be revised.
