New Chevrolet Sail to be launched in India soon

According to the speculations, General Motors India is planning to launch the hatchback version of its popular sedan Chevrolet Sail in the Indian market. The model is already available in the Chinese market where it is receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers of this segment. If the rumors in the auto industry to be believed, the new Sail hatchback would carry a 1.2 liter S-TEC petrol engine that is currently used in Chevrolet Beat, the Company's popular hatchback. With this, a 1.0L diesel engine which the company is developing for the Indian market is also expected to be used in this hatch version of Chevrolet sail.

The Chevrolet Sail is the first ever passenger car in the Chinese market which has been developed as a Sino-foreign joint venture. The model has been designed with an ample amount of space in the interiors. The model carries a boot space of 1,215 liters. With the seats folded flat, the space is enough to carry a 26-inch bicycle or even a 46-inch LCD TV.

The car comes equipped with a five speed manual transmission gearbox, which works on the Marelli technology, that enables the driver to control Gear shifting, acceleration and clutch mechanically. The car also comes equipped with a TCU computer module which helps in choosing a feasible time for shifting gears. The new automatic transmission system enhances the fuel economy of the car by up to 16 percent when compared to the traditional automatic transmission systems.
