    Volkswagen Jetta Petrol Specs Revealed

In our previous discussion of the Jetta petrol, we had mentioned that VW might introduce a 1.4-litre or a 1.8-litre TSI engine. Our sources confirm that the petrol version of the Jetta will be a 1.4-litre rather than a 1.8. The 1.4-litre TSi (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) petrol engine will produce 121bhp of maximum power and 200Nm of peak torque. This engine is most likely to be powered by a 6-speed manual transmission.

The 1.4-litre TSi engine will be the first of its kind in Volkswagen Jetta. This, in addition to the relatively smaller engine will effectively reduce the price and increase the mileage of the VW Jetta. Considering the Indian infatuation for cheap and mileage friendly vehicles, this is a considerably smart move on VW’s part. The entry level-D class segment will come with 6 airbags and will deliver an approximate mileage of 14-15 kmpl. It is likely to give competition to the current powerhouses of the D-class segment like Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Laura and Renault Fluence.
